At Unchained Intellect Press, we ensure that financial constraints do not prevent researchers from publishing their work. We offer a waiver policy for article processing charges (APCs) to support authors from diverse backgrounds and institutions. We aim to promote equitable access to publishing opportunities and ensure that all high-quality research can be disseminated widely, regardless of financial resources.

Eligibility Criteria for Waivers

  1. Authors from Low-Income and Lower-Middle-Income Countries
    • Full waivers are available for corresponding authors affiliated with institutions in countries classified by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income economies.
  2. Researchers with Limited Funding
    • Authors who can demonstrate a lack of research funding, including early-career researchers, independent researchers, and those from institutions with limited funding resources, may be granted partial or full waivers.
  3. Students and Postdoctoral Researchers
    • We offer partial waivers for students and postdoctoral researchers who do not have access to sufficient funding for publication fees.
  4. Special Circumstances
    • Authors facing special circumstances, such as natural disasters, political instability, or other significant hardships, may be considered for waivers on a case-by-case basis.

Application Process

To apply for a waiver, authors should follow these steps:

  1. Submit a Waiver Request Form
    • Authors must complete the Waiver Request Form and provide all necessary information and documentation. This includes a statement of the reason for the waiver request, details of funding limitations, and any supporting evidence (e.g., institutional letters, funding rejection letters).
  2. Submission of Manuscript
    • Authors should submit their manuscripts through the regular submission process, indicating in the cover letter that a waiver request has been submitted.
  3. Review of Waiver Request
    • Our editorial office reviews waiver requests. Decisions are based on the information provided and the eligibility criteria outlined above. The review process typically takes 7-10 business days.
  4. Notification of Decision
    • Authors will be notified of the waiver decision via email. If a waiver is granted, it will be applied to the manuscript processing fee. If additional information is needed, authors may be contacted for further clarification.
