Author and Editor Guidelines
At Unchained Intellect Press, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and excellence in scholarly publishing. Our guidelines are designed to support and inform our authors and editors throughout the publication process.
Open Access and Licensing Policies
Open Access Models:
- We offer various open-access models to cater to the needs of our authors and the broader academic community. Authors can make their work freely available immediately upon publication through our open-access platform.
- Creative Commons Licences: Depending on the author’s choice and the funder’s requirements, we provide options for different licences, which are clearly explained during submission. Common licences include:
- CC BY: Allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.
- CC BY-NC: Allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon your work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge you and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms.
Copyright Policies
- Author Rights: Authors retain copyright to their works while granting Unchained Intellect Press the right to publish their work under a chosen open-access licence.
- Reuse and Distribution: Authors are encouraged to post the final, published version of their work on personal websites, institutional repositories, or other free public servers immediately upon publication.
Detailed Peer Review Processes
- Submission to Decision: Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial evaluation to check for suitability and adherence to our scope and standards. Suitable manuscripts are then sent for double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts in the field.
- Reviewer Selection: Reviewers are chosen based on their expertise, reputation, and previous experience. We strive to avoid conflicts of interest during the reviewer selection process.
- Review Outcomes: Based on the reviewers’ feedback, manuscripts may be accepted, recommended for revision, or rejected. If a revision is suggested, authors are given detailed feedback to help refine their manuscripts.
Editorial Process and Publication Ethics
- Editorial Decisions: Our editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific merit and relevance of the work to the broader community.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could bias their opinions of the manuscript.
- Ethics and Misconduct: We follow COPE’s guidelines for handling misconduct allegations. This includes maintaining systems to detect plagiarism, fabricated data, and other forms of misconduct.
Handling Allegations of Research Misconduct
- Procedure: Misconduct allegations are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly per COPE guidelines. We ensure a fair and unbiased investigation process.
- Outcome: Actions may include correcting or retracting papers, notifying authorities or institutions, and banning authors, reviewers, or editors found guilty of misconduct from further contributions.
Adherence to Guidelines
All parties involved in the act of publishing—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to these guidelines to ensure the integrity and quality of our publication process. Non-compliance with any of the above guidelines may lead to the retraction of published work and termination of partnerships.
